Sunn Bikes Arrive at Mud Dock

We have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new range of Sunn bikes at Mud Dock for quite some time now. The French brand has been absent from these shores for some time now. Well, they have certainly been busy during their absence, the new bikes look stunning!

As in the past, Sunn bikes are all about performance, they are extremely light weight with super dialled geometry. Most of the full suspension range features their kinematically designed rocker driven suspension link. This is a modification of the design used by Nico Vouilloz and Anne Caro Chausson to win many a World Championship.

The hardtail range has something for everyone with prices starting at £500 and finishing at £5500 for the Titanium Prim Finest. Standout models are the steel Modular at £1200 with replacable dropouts so you can run singlespeed if that floats your boat, and the Prim S3 at £760. Pop in to Mud Dock and check out the bikes for yourself.

Rollapaluza National Series, South West Qualifiers on Saturday 7 November

The South West Qualifiers of the Rollapaluza National Series – a nationwide quest to find Britain’s king of spin and queen of cadence – take place at Mud Dock on Saturday 7 November.

The National Series is a set of standalone regional events that will act as qualifiers for a ‘Grand Finale’ in London. The South west Regional Qualifiers is Round 1 of the National Series, and is being held at Mud Dock in conjunction with Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council.

The youth categories of start at 1pm in the car park, and the over 18s start at 7pm. The evening and finishes when we have found the fastest man and woman in the South West.

We're providing prizes for all categories and entry is free. The bar in the Mud Dock Café will be open all day, and together with suitably loud music you can expect the usual raucous and rowdy Rollapaluza atmosphere. If last year's event was anything to go by, it really will be something special.

See you there!

The Mud Dock Demo Centre

Here at Mud Dock we love riding bikes. Our staff are all experts in their own field with years of riding experience at all levels. This puts us in a fantastic position to offer advice where it’s needed but, lets face it, choosing a bike is a very personal decision.

We want to be sure that you ride out the door feeling 100% happy that you've chosen the right bike for you. This is why we've launched the Mud Dock Demo Centre. Our demo bikes will be available for you to take away for the day, giving you chance to really get to grips with the handling, size and feel of the ride. If it feels made-to-measure, great. If not, try another bike from the fleet..

Our first lot of 2010 Scott demo bikes are already here (see below), our first from Trek has just arrived, and more from Trek and Sunn are on their way. Drop by and instead of kicking the tyres or staring at the shocks, give one of these demo bikes a few laps of the block!

SCOTT SPARK 20
Demo bike size: Medium

Scott say:

"The IMP built Spark sets the world standard for a lightweight, race ready, full suspension bike. Boasting 110 mm of rear travel, the Spark is ideally suited to cross country, marathons, multi-day stage races, and all day fun. The DT Nude shock allows the rider three separate travel settings that can be accessed via a handlebar mounted TWINLOC lever. The rider can choose from 110 mm of travel, 80 mm of travel in the Traction mode, or full lock out front and rear."

We say:

The Scott Spark was the stand out bike of 2009 for us here at Mud Dock. Although the Spark is one of the most capable XC bikes on the market, it was the trail abilities of the Spark that surprised us. This bike is so versatile, whether it be ripping round Ashton Court, Mountain Mayhem or venturing over to Cwmcarn or Afan, the Spark devours everything in its path and does so at lightning speed. The Spark is capable of far more than its 110mm of travel would suggest.

SCOTT GENIUS 30
Demo bike size: Medium

Scott say:

"The Genius is a full suspension bike designed to handle any trail, any time. It’s the ultimate trail bike suitable for super Ds, marathons and multi-day stage races. The Equalizer 2 shock allows the rider three separate travel settings that can be accessed via a handlebar mounted TWINLOC lever. The rider can choose from 150 mm of travel, 95 mm of travel in the Traction mode, or full lock out front and rear."

We say:

The Genius is the 'one bike that does it all' bike that we all want. Heading out to the Alps, stick in the 150mm travel mode and let her rip, quick thrash round the timberland trail 95mm mode will give you awesome pedaling efficiency and you won’t be bogged down with too much travel. The Genius in the Genius is that it truly is three distinctly different bikes all in one.

SCOTT CR1 TEAM

Scott say:

"The new CR1 offers a ride quality that is unmatched. Designed to absorb shock and vibration created by irregularities in the road, this new concept results in a very smooth and stable ride, reducing rider fatigue and making any ride more enjoyable. By a weight of just 860 grams (HMX carbon fibers) the frame’s lateral stiffness enables direct power transfer and ensures both confident cornering and descending. The geometry of the new CR1 is performance oriented, but the top tube and head tube lengths offer a more comfortable position than pure racing frames. The seatstays, chainstays and fork all feature SDS, our Shock Damping System. These areas have been specially constructed with regard to tube shape, dimension, and fiber layup to provide vertical compliance without sacrificing torsional stiffness."

New from Santa Cruz and Commençal

Over the last few weeks, it’s been like Christmas here at Mud Dock as we’ve received lots of exciting new stock. In particular, the new bikes from Santa Cruz and Commençal have made our mouths water with excitement and our hearts pound with desire!

We have just taken delivery of an array of Santa Cruz bikes ranging from the Chameleon hardtail (below) right through to the incredibly bling – and very rare – Blur XC Carbon (below). Be sure to to stop by and check this baby out: it's only 23.5llb and is one of the fastest XC bikes money can buy!

Also new in stock are a variety of Commencal bikes. This Andorran brand has seen enourmous growth in the last couple of years – and looking at the quality of their new bikes we aren't surprised. The Commencal hardtail range nicely complements to the Trek bikes that we already have in stock, and the value for money some of these bikes represent is just unreal. The Normal Disc (shown below) at £500 needs to be seen to be believed!

Be sure to stop by and check out these and all the other great bikes that we've hand picked. We reckon we've got the best range of bikes around – take a look and let us know what you think.
